Reaching students in need of support

Reaching students in need of support is a key factor in the implementation of guidance and well-being services. A particularly critical question is how to reach students who lack the resources to even seek help. In terms of proactiveness and reactivity, communication about services can range from preventive communication aimed at everyone to more targeted, needs-oriented and reactive communication and reaching out to identified student groups in need of individual support. This became particularly evident during the COVID-19 pandemic, when teaching, guidance and student communication were transferred to digital environments in spring 2020. Some students seemed to "disappear" out of reach of the support offered by higher education institutions. In addition, it was difficult to attract participants to new online services and events despite active marketing. Based on this, higher education institutions have developed student communications and methods for reaching students. The information bank contains information on these practices and materials.
